47RE to buy, to fix, to pass?

Looking at a couple of trucks this weekend, one has a 47RE that is slipping in 2nd gear. I know these transmissions need 24k service (fluids, filter, band adjustment). Is there any chance I am looking at something short of a full rebuild?

Truck has 100k on the odo, but I know people who have killed their dodge transmission in less than that.

Any idea on what the cost might be from cheap to expensive to address this issue? Not looking to throw a performance or jasper unit at this truck, it is a gasser, 4wd, 2500 tow rig.

Unless the price was really good I wouldn't buy one needing work, but that's just me. My diesel 47RH was 3500ish to rebuild, but I got a stage 1 rebuild from TRE Diesel that is rated for 400hp. I'm sure a factory rebuild would be cheaper.

passed, shop in SC gave me a $2k quote with a billet TC and a 3yr/36k warranty..... truck was nice, but I haven't had good luck with automatics.
