4R100...rebuild or replace...

so i am pretty sure the trans in my 7.3L Excursion is going out, not sure how soon, but everyday it seems like it gets worse and worse.

i know everybody always say buy a BTS but i don't have $4300 to drop on one and still have to install it once it arrives (must be nice to have $hit tons of cash)...so my question is what does the average man do?

have it rebuilt at a tranny shop, which noone ever seem TRUELY happy with or do you buy a used low milage one from the junk yard and have it put in...thoughts?
 
Swap it for a Zf 6 speed.
 
i would love to swap it for a Zf 6 speed but i don't think i have the money or could afford the down time...anybody else got any good recommendations?
 
Stock rebuild, but buy a Precision Industries convertor and a bts valve body. Then you'd need to call dptuner and get a new tune specific for those mods. The PI, valve body, and tune will run you about 1500.

i recieved a PM about a place in Wilmington that does transmissions but they are almost as much as the BTS...anybody know anything about performance innovations?

Ya, that guy was on here for a bit. He's gone now. Look in the vendor shop & referals section.
 
There is a place in Raleigh that has done some work for me in the past. Charlie Browns Transmission down off of wake forest road... across from the Circus.

did a good job and fair price... quick turn around too
