so how do I replace the wiper switch in a 90's runner? dealer says its the switch (it stops right where you turn it off, it doesnt go back flat). Yet they want $180 to do it- thats got me thinking its in the column.

What year? There are 2 gens in the 90's. You will have to take off the steering wheel to do it. It's all one unit with the turn signals etc. Just depends on whether or not you have an airbag.

Pete, wouldn't the " Park " mode be at the motor and not the combination switch ? Seems to me the motor would have the " switch" to know where the wiper is when the column switch is in the off position.....
That the combi switch turns the wipers off, but the wipers don't go " home" tells me the problem may be in the wiper motor assy...

I haven't had this issue with any of my Toyotas ..... YET, but I'd sure wanna check the easy stuff first.

God knows I replaced a million GM Module boards for this same issue, and that was at the motor ( apples/oranges, I know )

Yea, I'd think it would be in the motor now that I think about it. Can't say I've had that issue either, except with one BMW. I vote for wiper motor being bad. (Be glad this isn't a newer BMW. Just got back from a body electrical class and the 7 car has 8 control units and 3 different bus systems involved in turning the wipers on!!!)
