When I put it in 2wd, the two front wheel lights flash and stay flashing. It goes into 2wd ok and all the 4wd gears. It has no physical problems.... Just the darn front lights flashing. Anyone know what this could be? Ive dipped into my alldata and searched the web to no avail. Any help would be much appreciated. Once again, this is a 1995 mitsubishi montero LS

Computer problem probably. Does it have automatic hubs? Maybe one of them isn't disengaging.

Definately not the comp itself. Im thinking it could be the later tho i placed it in 2wd and got on some grass, floored it and only the rear tires spun. Call me old fashion. I am begining to think it could be that the tc 4wd sensor has a short in it. I went through some muddy water the other day and the whole indicator system went blank. It came back on a lil while later tho. Since it was doing the flashing before that im thinking the sensor itself is bad. Just throwing around some ideas to see if someone here has had a similar problem with a Monty before. Ima definatley check out those auto hubs just to be sure. That would be a good place to start. Thanks man!

i dont know if that was a good test of the front wheel hubs. jack up one side and see if the tire spins freely.

i think your on to something though with the faulty sensor.

Well, I checked the 4wd vacuum solenoids and determined that out of the two, one has too much resistance through it and the other is an open circuit. They should both be pushing 45 ohms. I got 98 and ..! So I'll be hunting these down soon. On a side note, this may be keeping my hubs engaged. Not sure yet though. Thanks for the help guys!

ya know..the previous owner told me about this issue with a landcruiser i owned. i should of thought of that earlier. if you find out that landcruiser and montero solenoids are the same PM me, ive got a good one i think.

glad you found the problem

Sorry just saw this;...usually the flashing light indicates that the sensor recognizes the driver has called for 4wd, but it is unable to engage.

Thanks Bigred! I'll let you know. Gonna call 2morrow.

Bigred, they are not the same. Thanks anywho. I found some at leith mitsu. 88 bucks isnt bad... Pick em up on friday. :D

:Rockon:Well, got my free wheel clutch soleniod and put it on this afternoon. Just like that, no more blinky lights!!!! WOOHOO!!!!
