This is an outdated term.
it used to mean "a place for off road enthusiast to gather and drive their 4x4 vehicles"
Today, it means "a spot other than the legally charted areas painstakingly gathered and documented on NC4x4.com found here http://www.nc4x4.com/forums/showthread.php?t=15304 ."
When you ask "where are the wheeling spots near ****" you really asking "where can i break the law by trespassing on some one elses property?"
If a person does have a "wheeling spot" in which he has taken the time to have permission granted by the owner (preferably in writing) he probably isnt willing to divulge his new found off road sanctuary. The more people that know the quicker it gets destroyed, ask Johnski. he had a good thing going with a landonwer and some locals looking for a "wheeling spot" ruined it.
if you dont pay to enter an off road trail or have written permission from the owner, KEEP YOUR TIRES ON THE PAVEMENT.
that is all. happy wheeling.
