I would like to leave my Grand Cherokee at home, save gas, and rent a 4x4 for the beach near Cape Lookout. I've got 20 years of experience driving off road and on the sand, and a valid driver's license. Does anyone have a suggestion for a place to rent?

4x4 for the beach huh?

You do realize your going to have to get there by ferry? and its not cheap... I would suggest going to the Enterprise in Morehead City, talk to ryan and tell him you need some sort of suv 4x4 for the trip. i'd leave out the fact your going to cape lookout though, and buy the insurance

theres a guy somewhere out there that rents old rusty samurais and jeeps somewhere on the outer banks. ill get some more info for you

x2 on the info I have a family vaca there in June and I am not driving or towing the jeep therw but I would like to rent something when I am there! thanks

and...im embarassed to say this......but.....

i saw on *ahem* john and kate plus 8 *ahem some guy does landcruiser rentals/tours in some pretty cool cruisers.

I saw that one too..

They were up Kitty Hawk.. Cape Lookout is further south.

the guy that does landcruiser tours is in corolla/carova. not sure if he rents them though...on ocrakoke, there are jeep wranglers for rent for the beach

thanks for the morehead city tip...that sounds like the best plan... yea, I know it's 2-days pay to get the 4x4 out to the cape... insurance is a good plus, thanks.

I also found a dealer that rents by the day or week at about 120-170 per day wrangler/big wrangler/dodge pick up...but not until later in April... this is what I would choose if I was two weeks later..
