5.29 Gears

What size tires are you running?Im running 5.29's with 36's on my yota with 22re and my speedo is right on!As far as rpm's LC engineering says that with my setup at 55mph Im only doing 200 more rpms than stock.

I had an 88 w/ a pretty healthy 3slow sas on 36's w/ 5.29's and it was basically like stock. mine was a 5speed too. pulled great and wasnt over reving either.

An auto? IIRC the transmission gearing is pretty close to same as the 22re version.
I have 5.29s and only 32s on an auto - and the gearing is just a tad (like 3% or so) fast of accurate on the speedo. This combo is great on the highway - lots of power.
You have to keep in mind that the gearing in the 4spd auto transmission is "longer" than 5 spd per gear - that's why they put 4.88s on only 31s at the factory for your same vehicle.
Based on what it is now, you can do the math and estimate what it will be, just figrue the tire to gear ratio, then change it and multiply back out.

FYI when I was upgrading gears, I went to 4.88s first.
A handful of folks said, "Auto? Skip them and go straight to 5.29." I wish I'd listened.
