Buddy of mine just bought a 88 F350 7.3 idi 2wd 5speed & he is looking for some info on increasing the power a little bit the truck is mainly going to be used for towing. Not looking for 500 HP but a moderate increase in power to tow.

turbo charger.... :-D
that's his best bet, those engines aren't exactly known for serious ponies. Adding a turbo is really your only hope at getting some oomph out of it. You could try upgrading the intake and exhaust but that would be negligible without a turbo...
There's a reason all the trucks now have turbo chargers

Here is the easiest way to get a little power out of it. How many miles are on the truck? Putting a turbo on a truck with high miles can cause a lot of problems.
