Anyone out there that can provide any help on my 2002 F350 7.3l
I bought this truck new in 02, has 135,000 miles on it. Truck developed an oil leak a few years back and I replaced the Turbo pedestal seals. Recently started leaking oil again and smelling Diesel fuel. Truck started and ran fine, but left a puddle when parked. I replaced the fuel bowl assembly and all the fuel line seals. I pulled the HPOP and replaced the seals in it as well. New gaskets, and replaced the ICP as it had oil seeping out of the plug. Tried to fire it up and no go.
This week I replaced the IPR and the oil reservoir gasket and screen mainly to make sure the oil pump gear was seated correctly and it was.
According to my scan tool app I do not have enough oil pressure to fire the injectors.
The oil reservoir is full, batteries are charge, oil level if full. Truck cranks fine. I am at wits end as I only changed some o rings to stop the leaks and now it won’t start. 4th weekend working on it. Any suggestions besides junking it would be appreciated.

Have you checked the cam position sensor on the front of the block? Those are notorious for quitting without notice and you’ll get a no start.

Assuming you refilled the HPOP reservoir , when you changed the ICP did you pull the plug on the other head and purge the air?

After filling the hpop I’d pull the icp and the opposite plug and crank until you have oil coming out both. Then button back up. That should cure the low oil pressure .

Assuming you got the hpop sealed and aren’t sucking air

Checked that and there was a little air in there. Bled both side, but still no start. Have voltage to IPR valve as well. No other fuel or oil leaks. Only getting about 280psi of oil pressure.

I do have a spare in the glove box, but would think it would still build oil pressure, which appears to be the issue. I am researching that. Thanks

Are you pulling that value from a tuner reading that the ICP sensor is reporting or with a gauge.

A bad ICP sensor will prevent injector firing even if there is adequate pressure.
IOW you may have a adequate pressure but a bad sensor is telling the IPR you don’t

I am reading it thru the OBD2 port with a diagnostic app.
After more researching last night, I am going to pull the puma again, :shaking:. There is a ball in the unserviceable port that gets serviced with a reseal that you have to make sure is in place. If not, it is a definite new start. I do not recall that step or paying attention to it. If it fell out and disappeared, will be new pump time. Maybe it is out of place? We shall see. Pulling the pump has gone from dreaded, no fun at all to 40 minute job..lol

My 7.3 developed a no start problem, but only when hot. I would have less than 500 psig ICP and it wouldn’t let the injectors fire. When the oil was cold, or the truck was running with hot oil, I had plenty of pressure.

My issue turned out to be leaky o-rings on a couple injectors. In my case starting the truck with the valve covers removed showed a lot oil coming around the injectors. A new o-ring kit cured my ills. Maybe something to look into, but if yours is no start all the time it would be leaking a lot of oil.

Mine is a no start after removing the HPOP for new gasket and O rings. Unbeknownst to me at the time there is a ball under the non service plug that I unknowingly lost. After numerous install and removals with trial and error fixes, I finally identified my self inflicted issue. At that point I said F-it and ordered a new fuel bowl ( leaking), new (rebuilt) HPOP, new hoses, new IRP and new ICP. Pump arrived and it was the wrong one or course, sent me one for an older model. The right one arrived yesterday, so hopefully it will be back and running this evening. Thanks for the info above, I will log that in the ole memory bank.

Gonna close this out. Got all the new installed last night and it fired right up! Drove it to work today to get all the air bled out. Sure is nice to stop and not have oil/diesel fuel leaking on the ground. I will say though is was a good rust deterrent for the under carriage while driving! Hopefully it will last another 22 years and will be someone else's problem then.
