I got a set of axles out off a 78 F150 with a hp 44 and a 9" that i was goin to put under my yj but they have the cast wedges i was wondering if you could cut the cast peice off and put a tube over the old one kinda like a sleeve ? that way i would have some meaty tubes and a fix for the problem?

or use the radius arm set up

Search for my build thread, 1/2 ton TJ. I used the cast cs and cut the radius arms and added builder bushings

cant you weld link mounts to the cast peices? Will it weaken it ? were could i get inner c's?

Is the hole in the inner c the same size as the tube coming out of the pumpkin or bigger for the cast peice?

Don't you already have one to look at? You can see what we're talking about. The tube going into the inner C is the same as the tube going into the pumpkin. Are you wanting to retube it?

If you don't retube it, truss the shit out of it. Actually, truss it knuckle to knuckle regardless.

Or find a HD44 or a pre-78 5 lug... they won't have the cast radius arm sections.

Its cast steel not cast iron, so just weld you spring perches to it. I've seen two different jeeps with that done. IIRC you have to drill a hole for one of the u-bolts.

yea i have one to look at but the cast peice runs all the way to the c on both sides so i couldnt tell and didnt want to cut till i knew im not sure about retubing yet i thought about put a sleeve over it from the pumkin to the inner c and a truss.
