Hey ya'll

I am pulling one of the axleshafts in my 8.8 today so I can replace the parking brake assembly.

I was told that in order to pull the axleshaft I had to remove a the pin, push the axleshaft in and remove the c-clip then take the axleshaft out.

The pin? is it the small metal bar that goes through the carrier?

if anybody has any pointers or pictures on how to pull a 8.8 shaft let me know.

Thanks in advanced!

yea it is, there is a 8mm bolt on the side to keep it in(i think it is 8mm may be wrong)try not move the spider's to much when the pin is out, because if you start turning it then the 2 top and bottom spider gears will "walk" them self's out and it can be a pain to get back in

Yup, its an 8mm bolt holding the pin in. Drain the diff, unbolt the retaining pin, spin the ring gear 180* and tap the pin out far enough so you can spin it back around, put the pin in the center pin hole and pull it out. If its an LS diff you'll have to remove that s-shaped spring. Then push the shaft in towards the diff and slide the c-clip off, then pull the shaft.

That easy! :D

EDIT: Make sure you don't beat the center pin into the pinion.
