Long story short.

I have an 80 cj with 258 that has been studdering above 60mph. Goes fine at lower speeds.

I have changed the carb, fuel pump, plugs and all filters with no results.

The Jeep has aftermarket electronic ignition and i'm not sure how to trouble shoot it.

any ideas what could be causing it.

If you have a FSM...or can borrow one...ohm out the plug wires. Thats what I end up replacing every time I get a hi-speed skip. Actually, it's mostly the coil wire. It's hard to find hi-end wires for a zook.

Also check for vacuum leaks. Another cause could be the cam, lifters, valves. I would go with plug wires forst and see if that clears it up.

I replaced the wires and no luck. Ordered up and HEi Dist today to get rid of the garbage aftermarket ignition on my Heep. We will see how that goes.
