yager i seen you doing your install
there, ive got a 4.3 complete TBI
im fixing to install out of 85 carlo,
have not ever done a TBI before
but im leaning toward attempting
it since i have everything, is there
any manuals out there for this fab
i do not have the donor car an was
not present at tear out, what im
getting at are they any after
market harnesses for this old of
an TBI. going in my cj5 by the way
just got rolling chassis put back to-
gether. I do not want to use OEM
equipment, would prefer plug an
play.

hey just saw your post, search pbb or even a few good post on JU. For a plug/play harness most use painless or one of the PBB vendors (saw a post reciently ppl said prices were super)

if you have a regular chiltons or can even see what computer you have that the key to hooking up the TBI/computer. If you decide to tackle it your self, make a trip to the Junk Yard and snap a few pics the 4.3s are all over... Again it depends on the computer your using.

There are only a hand full or wires to hook up.. But im funny and woudl rather spend twice as long to do it just so i understand what im doing... Its already taking me longer than expected. But only because im doing other things while doing the tbi swap...

note: if you search PBB you need 4 characters, so use TBI* and it will help w/ results... don't worry if you get a billion hits most do contain some usefull stuff...

im not an expert and am muddling my way through but holler if you think i can help...

thanks, most of the painless stuff Ive looked at
are 86 an up, the only thing different that im
aware of , is 86 they started the one piece
rear main seal, I guess i need to do more
research on the changes from 85 to 86.
I just felt it a shame to not use the tbi an
everything already bolted up on the engine.

Why go with the painless harness? IMO it is alot of money for what you get, if you have the complete wiring harness from the donor, the swap is simple. The wiring you will have to do is not that bad. There will only be around 5 wires required to hook up on the factory harness to get it to run. (fuel pump wiring, computer power and ground, engine ground, starter power, coil power, there may be a few more I cannot remeber off the top of my head) all of the rest of the wiring is done for you since you have the factory harness. All of the splicing on the wiring will be done in one spot at the bulkhead connector. Plus the GM TBI system is a very simple system.
I have done two different fuel injection swaps within the past 6 months, and neither I used a premede harness on. Both vehicles function flawlessly.

I have absolutly no wiring, all ihave is complete engine
an its connections at engine , like fuel pump connections
throttle body, an stock manifolds.
