88 SAMI motor needed

Anybody know of anyone close to Winston-Salem area that works on Samurais? My 1.3 has a engine knock, possibly a rod bearing. My Sami is stock 130k original miles, factory 4wd, a/c soft top excellent condition, dily driver. Any suggestions on someone to overhaul my engine or suggest what engine to do a easy swap with? The Sidekick 1.6 8v or 16v engines are a good swap.

If you want to have the stock engine rebuilt, I'd recommend Dr Bos in Greensboro. I've had good luck dealing with them.

I don't know the exact years to look for, but I believe the range is around 90-99 maybe. My 1.6 16v came out of a 97 Sidekick.

I'd recommend reading on Zuwharrie.com. Lots of guys with a lot of Samurai and Sidekick knowledge on that site.
