So a few weeks ago my pop gave me his K5 and told me I could have it as long as I took the remaned 350 out and put it in his 89 1500 with a 305. So I did what any person would do and took on yet another project.

So I havent really got set plans other than drop the 305 in it that I'm taking out of the 1500 and clean her up. The K5 has been sittin for a few years and it shows. But basically here it goes.

Drivetrain:
305 boat anchor:D, maybe a intake and 600 holley swap
700R4
NP208
Stock 10 Bolts:flipoff2:
Manual hub conversion
35's off my truck now after I get new tires

Susp:
New springs up front with a few extra leafs
longer shackles up front
Shackle flip in the rear

So far thats what I've thought of, this is gonna be one of those cheap builds and hopefully gonna have a decent amount of fun.

Well I started doing a little body work and discovered the biggest shit storm of bondo ever, the right rear quater was replaced and they did it completely wrong. The hopes of just fixing the little crack in the quater was short lived, in 5mins I stopped digging. From what I can tell the bondo strecths from the door to mid wheel well. But in all redneck cheap budget fashion, gonna trim the fenders for 35s and fill/blend the rest in.

Make sure you don't kersplode that rear axle with 35s. Not as big of a concern if it's not a gov-lok axle, as the gov-loks seem to run on limited time. Happened to me when I tried to keep my old K5 on half tons with 36s... blew the shit out of it (carrier, R/P, spiders all blew through my diff cover in little pieces). Then put in a 14 bolt.

Prob not gonna keep it long, just gonna fix her up a little have some fun and sell her.

Got some new tires, 38x14.5R15 Super Swamper tsl sx's. From workin with my buddy I have changed my mind on the direction of this rig. Going to make a big tire street truck on a budget.

Might stick with half tons for now, 12b and 10b just to keep cost down. Motor will be mild 350 and with a rebuilt stock trans. Susp it tbd all I know is it have prob 8-10" of lift. This will be an offroad on truck.

Newer tires, now I need to find a wider rims. Not to keen on mountin a 14.5 tire on 7 rim. Got a little bit of work done yesterday. Startin to strip the harness and ac stuff out. Also got the carpet out. Bedlining it prob this weekend.

Got the main harness out today and the rest of the ac stuff. Pickin up a body lift tomorrow. Might actually get it running by august.

what are you doing with the ac stuff? is it all there? as well with the tbi stuff?

Removing it I still got everything, but the computer is going in another truck. Pm me if you want some of it.

Pertaining to the build I picked up a body lift that I'm try to get on this week. Might be addressing the axles in a few weeks after I make a lil money.
