My brother owns a 86 Z28 that my dad bought new, serviced at regular intervals and has over 300k on it. No problems with the motor, even has the original clutch in the 5 spd.

Oh thats BS jsut ask the Toyota owners they will tell you they know only a toyota made vehicle can last that long!!
Just kidding that is awsome you should contact GM PR people about that they might like to the story of your camaro. I've always said it is not about the make of the car but how they are cared for.
I've seen a BMW engine that still had the crosshatch in the cylinder bores at 485k. We were the only people to ever work on the car so I know it was original. The guy that was resealing the engine was the guy the did the original Pre Delivery Inspection on it when it came off the truck. It's all in how you care for it.
The original 289 from my '66 mustang was rebuilt at 434,000 miles. Not because it quit running, but for the sake of making a stroker out of it. In all fairness, it did need a .020 overbore to straighten the cylinder walls.
Machine shop guy: "It's a shame, these Ford blocks just don't hold up"
Me: "Yep, had it been a 60's Chevy the piston would've punched through a water jacket three times by now"
there was a guy on the news a few weeks ago i think claiming 3 million miles on his car and mostly original parts. he had driven the same vehicle his entire life though
