If a small bearing housing has a third member set up for 31 spline, then the size of the carrier bearings have been reduced to the larger carrier right?

I have an opportunity to purchase a chunk but it came out of a small bearing housing, mine is the large bearing housing.

I would like to keep the larger carrier bearing in the rig for obvious strength reasons.

A little clarification
Thanks

The carrier bearings do come in different sizes, ie: 3.250, 3.060, 2.891, etc. The bearing ID on the carrier/spool/locker is the same for all, its the bearing OD that differs. So, yes, you could run a carrier from a small bearing housing in a big bearing housing granted you pop the small bearings off and replace them with correct size.
