90 Bronco II clutch questions? Whats your clutch pedal rod look like?

I got a friend who has a 90 Bronco II. We put a new clutch and slave cylinder in the truck. Went back later to bleed the system but the clutch pedal looks to be bent/broken. The rod from the pedal is no longer contected to the firewall and it is bent almost 90 degrees. Is this bend normal? How does this connect? Is if fixable or does he need to replace it? Thanks for the help in advance.

If you are talking about the rod from the pedal to the master cylinder it should be straight.

That is what I thought but I had nothing to compare it to.
