Going to pick up a 92 pickup, 22re, 4x4 tonight that a buddy just bought. The truck has been a daily driver and now all of a sudden, wont fire. The kid is tired of screwing with the truck and sold it to my buddy for a VERY low price, so we can afford to mess around with it a little.

The engine turns over freely but never attempts to fire. My first thought was fuel pump, or possibly some sort of spark problem. I have read how to check the ecu codes, and will try that tonight. Just wondering if any body had a good idea of where to start.

Spark, fuel, & air = vroom... you know you're getting air, so just see if you're getting fuel, and spark.. also can't hurt to pop the valve cover and make sure everything is turning like it should...

timing chain may have jumped. this happened to my 85 with a 22r

Ok, got the truck to the shop and started playing around a little. Took the #1 plug wire loose from the plug and tried to get it to ark....nothing. Took the wire from the coil to the distributor off, and no spark there either. So i very well may need an ignitor, or coil, or whatever you call the thing that gives spark to the distributor. Does this sound about right? does anyone have the wiriing diagram to show what wire i need to test to see if the ignitor is getting power? Thanks for the help.

check to see if coil is grounded good, ground wire could have came loose, and check all your fuses, if that dont work i would start by getting new coil.

I sell you a used coil that is in a running truck right now $100, sounds like the problem. If you install it and it is not the problem you can bring it back.

Thanks guys. cperry, i may be sending you a pm later this weekend. What year truck is the coil you have off of?
