Found a reasonably priced 92 Toyota truck. 4cly. But it has a automatic transmission. I know the bare minimum on these trucks. I know the 22re is a fine engine and I know the manual trans are alright but as far as the automatic. Are they fine? Do I run away? Any info is appreciated.

Automatic trans in them is a cousin of the aw4 in xj's. If it shifts smoothly, engages promptly, I wouldn't worry about it. Only thing I've ever had to do to one was a shift solenoid.

^ yup. Mechanally it isn't too bad. Biggest problem you'll have is just that the 4 cyl doesn't have a lot of power, and that trans ssps a notable amount of it.
FYI you can get manual shift kits made for the AW4 and this one to give you control if needed. Used in Jeepspeeds.
