93 5.9L ZJ

bought this jeep (1-16-11) from upnover (great guy)
motor: 5.2L
trans: auto (bad)
case: NP249
axles: dana30 and dana35
miles:232xxx

plans: put my 360 (5.9L) motor and trans out of my 95 dodge 2500 with 47xxx miles in it. thats the first thing so i can drive her in the snow to make it to work. next is 4.5 inch or 5.5 inch long arm lift kit, with my 2 dana 60s out a 97 dodge 2500.

thought: i cant remember ever seeing a ZJ that some one has put a 360 in it. and i think this was very great buy for the money. inside is very good for a 93. and outside has paint fade and fender beat up but oh well. and whoever had this before upnover, had a very very muddy driveway or they took this thing though some deep mud.

am very open to yalls thoughts to my build.

In 1998, ZJs could come from the factory with a 5.9.
 
what i did today (1-17-11)

today i pulled the white plastic clips off the pass. side door, to see what it would look like with the black/gray plastic body thingys off the jeep. I like it! And i got it jaked up and pulled the drive shafts and tranfercase skid plate and rad skid plate. And drained the coolant.

well i know that haha. they were the only year they did and they were R/T and had every thing you could get on them and only came in white, black, gray. i was meaning i had never seen anyone that put on in the ZJ themself.

and i used one to check to see how easy it would be. i used a guys that i work with.

today (1-30-11)

We got the motor out today me and sparkn89.
Found the first problem with this, the trans out of the truck has the starter on the driver side and jeep has start on pass. Side. This is the only thing so far I have found diff. Don't know what am going to do about that
 
Well guys this has took wow longer then I wanted. But got its back together still need to put 2 inch lift on it, and flush tranny, fix the lights that stay on always. But I got the 5.9L the tranny (both have 47xxx miles) swapped in a np231 for the junk np249, and replaced the rear axle bearing and axle.
 
My 94 had a 4.0 and we were able to swap a 98 ZJ 5.9 and tranny in with some harness work.
Since yours came with the V8 already though I think it's just a matter of physically swapping it and then using the sensors that were in the 5.2 and plugging them into the 5.9. Some dude at mallcrawlin did this with a 5.9 from a Durango. I'm not sure what he did about the starter being on the wrong side though.
Hurry up and finish this thing so the woods can destroy it.
 
12/24/11 and 12/27/11

Got the kick down cable adjusted thanks to jody treadway, on the 24th.

Flushed the tranny, just to make sure all the burnt fluid and everything was out, on the 27th.

Need to cut fenders to clear the 31s now.
