i got a 93 cummins auto matic the tranny dont go into od till 60 mph is that ok it seems like the truck is sceaming before changing into overdrive.

welcome to the world of suck ass dodge auto transmissions

buck up and swap a 6speed in it.

that be to much work its got to be something simple it shifts fine through the other gears. i read something bout putting a toggle switch for the overdrive does anyone heard of that or know how to do it

Does it wind out really far before it does the 1-2 shift and 2-3 shift? If not adjusting the throttle cable won't help.

It's probably the same as the tranny in my '94.....the 1-2-3 shifts are controlled by hydraulic pressure but the TQ lockup and overdrive shift are controlled by a computer. If so, the throttle position sensor might be going out. You can manually wire up TQ lockup and overdrive to switches. You will need the switches connected on the other end to a ground.

i read a few of the articals bout wiring up the switch but i couldn understand it

You have to tap into the wires that go between the computer and tranny. I chose to do it right at the tranny. You should have a plug on the left side with 3 wires. Be careful, there might be 2 plugs with 3 wires each so make sure you get the correct one. One wire is ground, one is for TQ lockup, and one is for OD. I'd have to lookup the colors for each. You would basically wire the TQ wire and OD wire like this (separate from each other)

Tranny

If you T it like that, when the switch is off the computer controls it like normal. Switching either of them on only works when the tranny gets into 3rd. Switching the TQ lockup on will ground that wire and force a lockup. It will stay locked up as long as the switch in on. You can even stall the truck out if you slow down too much, just like a manual with the cluth engaged. Switching on the OD will force the truck into OD and it will stay there until you flip the switch off.

'93 model had OD, but not locking T/C. Lockup switch is of no use on this first gen.
