My son just bought a 1993 Ford Ranger 4WD automatic 3.0 liter. The previous owner has done some janky stuff where it appears that they have bypassed the ABS module and capped off the lines with spark plugs. This generation should have had rear wheel ABS, which I'm not all that sad about losing, but I'd like to have normal brakes. Am I safe to assume that instead of capping them, I should install a brake line to connect the two? Or is there something else I should know about this system? From what I understand, the pump in question has been discontinued and is a junk-yard only part. Since I'm hearing that rear wheel ABS was not particularly great in these trucks, replacing the pump is not a worthwhile venture.
Does anyone have any first-hand experience with this generation truck with the 3.0 liter motor?
