I figured I'd share my comedic adventures of pulling a 22re with 270,000 from my 1993 Toyota Pickup and replacing it with a long block 22re that I purchased online. The extent of my mechanic skills is changing an oil filter, and even that is a struggle. My good friends here on NC4x4 insisted that I should be able to install a motor, no problem, so, here I am.

You're not likely to learn anything by following this thread, but there will be a quiz at the end.

Day 1 goal was to get the injectors removed so I could ship them off. I replaced the injectors on my XJ and it was very simple, so I figured it wouldn't be a major thing to start with on the 22re. Unfortunately, my supervisor (seen in the photo above laying in the most inconvenient location available) failed to tell me that the injectors were under the intake manifold.

4 hours later and I had the intake manifold removed, but not the injectors. The fuel rail outsmarted me and I gave up until tomorrow.

Finally got the fuel rail removed and the injectors pulled. Shipping them out to be cleaned and tested.

One of the radiator bolt heads snapped off, so we have the first casualty of the project.

There are two electrical connections/plugs on the passenger side of the block that I'm unable to disconnect, so I'll be sorting that out next.

One of those electrical connectors looks like it may be the knock sensor. That one is a sensor threaded right into the block wit ha clip on the back of it. Another could be the oil pressure sending unit? Hard to tell what you're pointing to.
On my '89 they were a pretty typical slip on connector.
The '93 FSM posted online has step-by-step for this if you haven't found that yet

Have you noticed Toyota makes things that you can see, but can't touch!
they're also good at things you can only feel but not see. Like the infamous bolt under the intake that goes through the coolant line.
