ok, so I'm POSSIBLY looking at a '93 GC Limited. 2 owner, 189,000 miles. This is what I know about it. "New, dealer replaced transmission at 100,000 miles, not a rebuilt one. I have serviced the car myself. Things I could not do done by local mechanic. I have replaced radiator, water pump, fuel pump, rear wheel bearings, transfer case seals, exhaust manifold (stainless steel now), various brake parts."

I'm reading reports/reviews of a viscious coupler in the front axle?

The viscious couple is actually in the front of the -t-case....if it goes bad the jeep will bind up and hop really bad when making tight turns. A new VC is a pretty penny, and alot of people just go ahead and swap in a 242 or a 231 case since its cheaper and has the 2wd option. But the only grand cherokees that have the vc are the all time 4wd ones. Really though, to sum it up grand cherokees suck ass.:D

Fo' real....ive had mine for almost 3 years now, its a laredo, and only at 140xxx and the repairs ive had to do are minor...the biggest being the radiator. I had an oil leak at the oil filter adapter, just had to change the gasket/o-ring type thing, sorry cant think of the legit name for it at the moment.

You'll only have the Viscous Coupler if you have the AWD T-case. I had one go bad on me and since it wasn't an off-roader, I just pulled the front shaft and kept on driving.

If it's early '93 you may have lucked out and got the AW4 Tranny, if not then it'll be the 42 RE which is a turd. but if it has 100K+ on it and it drives fine, then you may be lucky with it and not have any issues with. It'll show up with irregular shiting and a feeling of it slipping the gear.

well I went ahead and bought it:driver:

I'll post pics in the 'truck gallery' section

*it IS AWD, and the tranny only has 89,700 miles on it
