94 toy exhaust question

On a 94 22re there is a tube that bolts up to the manifold and it wraps around the backside of the motor. I this just emissions or is it like an cold start that heats the intake or something.
I know a header doesn't require this and it is bypassed.
Any input would be appreciated.

It's part of the EGR system. Runs directly to the EGR valve.
 
I took it off. I took the whole system off. No adverse effects.
 
Thanks man I tried researching it and following the lines there is only so much you can really see with so much in the way.
 
There's a clamp around the pipe on the back of the block. When you loosen the 12 mm bolt that holds the clamp to the block, coolant comes out. Just didn't want you to get a suprise :lol:
 
Haha thanks for the lookout! I think ill just keep it all together, it just would have been nice to clean things up a bit.
