95' grand cherokee 4wd

Are you putting it into 4hi or 4lo?
 
it does it in both and it acts like it dont want to pull i tried coming up a hill and it started fine and when i gave it gas it started popin and wouldnt go up
 
Well if the transfer case is popping, then I bet you broke something in there...
 
the tcase isnt poping the front left is poping might be the drive shaft but i drove it 130 miles yesterday without a problem then put it in four wheel drive and the front left poped a few times and just got worse at times and sometimes had no prob
 
pinion bearing worn/loose? that would allow the pinion gear to try and climb the ring gear, and pop when it slips back where it belongs.

Also, if the axleshaft u-joint is bad it can pop, but that shouldn't keep it from wanting to go up a hill, especially if the tires are pointed straight
 
old ass springs were my popping noise on my zj.. could be ujoint as well under the pressure! Check wheel bearings while your at it!
 
well i tried to make it up the hill last nite and it did fine just poped a few times but climbed fine once i got a little bit of a run and go it went up it sounds like the drive shaft popin to me but i may be wrong i have at tires on it that fill up quick with the snow thats why it wouldnt climb the hill before once they was cleared it went up pretty easy just poped some so i really don't know what it is

Hold your horses everybody hahah. I have that popping noise and its the coil spring. on hill climbs mine pops and it feel like someone is taking a hammer to my wheel well.
Where there is no paint is where my coil rubs

it dont do it when its not in 4wd but today it just started making a clickin from inside it sounds like the motor knockin but its commin from the front when its not in 4wd now when you stop it quits and just gets louder the faster you go
 
I think you should just give it to me and cut your loses :D
 
haha i love this thing sold my wrangler to get it i drove it 140 miles this the other day and it ran fine and didnt use hardly any gas so im gonna keep it just wish i knew what was wrong
