95 YJ Transfer Case Shifter

I just installed a 2” body lift and need to remove the Transfer Case Shifter so I can weld the extension into the handle and can’t remove it. I’m working in the truck and have removed the shifter boot and see two square holes at the bottom of the handle. What do I need to do so I can remove these?

I think there is a spring clip inside there, & you have to pry it off.
Not positive of this, or whether the clip can be re-used.

I would go around to a few message boards & use the search key.

There is a spring clip inside. Seems like we had to slide something flat inside to release the spring. Can't remember the specifics, it's been a while.
