96 Tacoma suspension recommendations?

For those that have experience, what would you recommend for a mild lift on a stock Tacoma? I had the OME kit on my '07 Tacoma. Not sure if I need/want to spend that kind of coin again on this truck. I am thinking the 5100's and coils up front, maybe the OME Dakar springs out back or a progressive add-a-leaf. What's worked for you in the past? For those curious, I'm simply replacing the worn out factory stuff until I SAS it in a few years.

I would go with the full OME kit, I'm running their 882 coils and struts in the front of mine and love them. I haven't ran their leafs or rear shocks but have known plenty of people who have and love them.

I didn't like my OMEs on my 96. Had them paired with a set of 5100s. Put a couple hundred miles on them and traded them for a set of DR coil overs from my old taco. Can't remember if I had 881 or 882 coils but it rode worse than my 91 w250 with empty bed

Spend a little more? sway away coil overs and Chevy 63s out back or some bolt in deavers.

I started out with a spacer and Chevy 63 lift on my 97. Them upgraded to the sway aways and loved it. If I did it again I'd get a bolt in nice leaf pack though unless it's a beater.

SAS it now, or get coilovers and forget about the SAS. There is no sense in spending the money twice.

FWIW, I have 5100's set to 0" and toytec coils up front and am happy with the results/cost. In the rear I have a set of lifted shackles, combined with a bobbed bed it is a perfect match with the front lift. But the factory springs are almost too soft, I have considered aftermarket replacement springs but haven't turned loose of any money yet.

several weeks ago i helped a guy install a set of 5100 and Toytec 620 lb springs. stock suspension otherwise on his 4cyl '99 X-cab toughest part was compressing the springs, broke my HF compressor ( wasn't surprised ) paid a shop to assemble, brought them back and stuffed them in.

drove it around the field behind my house, it rode pretty decent ( 5100 in rear with modified S-10 leaves added to stock packs )

get replacement top plates and bushings and have a shop assemble spring and strut before you tear into the old stuff, wham bam thank you m'am, you've got 3" lift and a decent ride.

I did this. It's much easier than it sounds, and didn't feel as dangerous as I thought it would. I put a ratchet strap around them during disassembly, just in case.
