The ever dependable Taco as a no start problem. Complete head job/timing belt 15K ago with no problems but O2 sensors and slight backfire when slowing down. If anyone in the Greensboro/High Point/Ramseur has a scan tool I would definitely compensate. I am think CPS as it turns over fine, possibly fuel pump as all fuses are OK.

Any help appreciated!

'96 has to be OBDII by federal law. Can't remember if there is a connection to the fuel line under the hood that can be removed or not. I'd start there. If after trying to start there is no fuel pressure when you remove the line it's the pump. A code reader may not help if it hasn't started to tell the computer there is a problem. Also check to see if you've got spark.

could be FPR too if it was dying slowly.. does the taco have a fuel pressure test port? if it does I'd stick a fuel gauge on it, and check for spark..
