99.5 Gmc Sierra 1500 4x4 Brake Problems

I bought this truck and decided to replace brakes. I replaced rotors and pads. The existing brakes were shoot. Alot of rust and crap everywere. I clean real good and deglazed rotors and clean up all parts best as I could. When I test drove truck it had smoke coming from rotors and brakes. Truck stops fine, no noises. Brakes work fine until you get to around 5 mph and they then the petal gives a couple inches then proceeds to stop properly. Any suggestions would be great and thanks ahead of time.:beer: :driver: :beer: :wheel:

P.s: Rear brakes seem to be ok and they grab real good too.
 
Had the samething happen on my wifes tahoe .Had to remove the speed sensors and clean the rust off the surface where the sensors set then reinstall . after that everything work good.:driver:

Ditto, except it was a GMC Yukon
 
Hey thanks this is a start. Where would the speed sensor be located at and what does it look like. I havn't really worked on newer model stuff. Thanks.

to loc. you need to remove the front tires then look for a wire runnig down to the back side of hub thats the sensor hold in with one bolt .You will have to remove some parts to get it out . once out clean the rust off where it's sets & clean the end of the sensor off
 
Ok I took everything apart until I got to the rusty bolts that held the sensor in and unsuprizingly striped the bolts out. I have no clue as to how to get these bolts out with out chiseling them out. But I did manage to clean the sensors up a little and then once all back together the abs light was on. brakes work fine not a single problem. I guess as soon as the sensors dried up the abs light cut off and brakes are acting stupid again. So I just pulled the abs fuse. My question now is if the abs is not on what is the disavatages of not having abs????
