99 Explorer Radio Showing "Call"

We have a 99 ford Explorer and all of a sudden today when I got in it the Radio display shows the word "Call" and won't do anything. None of the buttons work, nothing, just shows "Call". Its weird like its almost in a lockdown mode or something? Anyone got any ideas as to whats goin on?

sounds as if there is an integrated cell phone reciever in the system. Just an edjucated guess

Yea I thought maybe thats what it meant but I can't find anything cell phone related anywhere I mean what should I do, the only thing I can think of is to start wiggiling wires and hoping somthing happens

You should take it out of the dash and unplug the harness and then plug it back and see if that works. Kinda like a hard reboot for a computer there is an easy way to take it if you don't have the key for the stereo just use a wire hanger and cut the straight piece off and bend it in a U shape and stick in the holes on each side of the stereo face (easier to do if you have two of these hangers) push them in until they stop and pull them away from the center and then just pull the stereo out. It may take a couple of trys if you have never done it, but that is how you get it out with out taking the dash apart. See if that helps.

Yea that actually worked, lol. Took the radio out a couple days ago to see if a replacement one I was gonna buy would fit and it didnt and figured why not try pluging the old one back in and lo and behold it works again

when you include stereo installs for your busines they say you are suppose to know what you are doing (psh... who are they and what do they know) Let me know if there is anything else I can do for ya, I'll just send ya a bill
