Despite a LONG layover in Denver, I made it into Portland some 1.5 hours late. Since it was later than planned, I nixed the jaunt to a pub across town to watch the games (football was over for the day by the time I checked in) and hit a pub close by the college. Ended up at The Cheerful Tortoise for a bit to eat and a sampling of the taps... was a bit disappointed in the poerter/stout offerings...
- Black Butte Porter = too sweet
- Alaskan Amber = pitiful weak
- Lagunitas IPA = tastiest of the lot
- Big Sky Moose Drool = boring
- BridgePort IPA = fruity, but good
- Mirror Pond Pale Ale = mediocre
Washed it all down with a Guinness draft...
Tomorrow evening, I hope to hit the Rock Bottom or Brass Horse for a larger selection! Tuesday night is a jaunt across town to "meca"... the Rogue Ale pub! (I can almost taste the Mocha Porter now! )
