Ok , I have had my 92 4runner for 4 months. I have had a bad vib. problem at 55 mph. My rear axle seal was leaking bad, so I took the rear end apart. The pinion gear was broke on 4 out of 9 gears. Would this be my bad vib problem or something else.. Thanks for any input..

That would definitly cause a vibration. It is out of balance when you are missing a tooth. There are a couple for sale on this board.

Its a 4.56 ratio and from a v6 rear. I found one from a
4.56 Gears Tundra with elock trd. Will it fit my 92 4runner 4x4. Thanks for the help guys

with some small mods done the the housing....there should be a thread about in the Toyota FAQ on Pirate4x4. Just remember to get everything else that makes the E-locker work...or swap it to cable actuated.

Thw other option is to just swap the whole axle... you'll get beefer brkes that way too... but I think it's a little wider and the spring perches may not line up so you'd have to deal with that.

Usually you don't get too much of a vibration from gears missing teeth, it would be more of a drone or wine, or a just a nasty grinding noise from bearings or teeth gone.

If it's vibrating like you say it sounds like a driveshaft problem.....bad u-joint, shaft out of balance.
Also check your pinion angle, that will make a driveshaft vibrate in a heartbeat.
Need any help let me know.

It sounds like a mack truck letting off the gas. There looks to be a small dent on the drive shaft. But it gets loud at 55mph. I also want to put manual hubs on next..

seen a couple bent axle flanges, had one on my cruiser a while back, vibrated like a SOB at speed, i agree with the driveshaft out of balance but the R&P first
