I will be buying a 1987 Toyota Pickup 4x4 very soon, and need some advise for people that have been in the off roading scene. I have been in the import scene for 5 years now, and wanted to buy this truck for $1500 as a daily driver and moderate toy (my other car has over $15k invested, not practical for daily driving).

First-
I need to renovate some things, and need to track down a new bed that isnt rusted, and several interior parts.

Second-
I plan to buy some steelies in a 15x8 or so, and wanted to know if anyone has or can direct me to find a solid set of of 32" ATs

Third-
I need some advice on other ideas for cheap mods that wont make this thing a trail monster, but something that can hold its own while maintaining daily drivability.

Thanks guys, look forward to the comments.

1. Good luck finding a bed that isn't rusted out. Your best bet is to find a 2wd one even though the fenders aren't flared as much on the 2wd. Look in the swap meet section for your interior parts. Lots of guys parting them out.

2.See 2nd part of 1.

3. Put a lockright in the rear and you'll be amazed how it wheels. they run about $200 and change new, see 2nd part of 1 for a cheaper one.

It'll wheel really well stock. If you haven't wheeled before run it stock for a while and then decide what you need to get over that obstacle you had problems with. Go with a good all terrain tire like a BFG AT or the like for good on road manners and decent off road capabilities. Welcome to your new expensive hobby! And welcome to the board!

Thanks for the advice, i have been looking all over part outs and stuff, i am definitely not new to forums, been a member of Club3g (3rd gen eclipse) for 4 years now.

Cars are definitely an expensive ass hobby....once i get the truck, im upping my eclipse from a 75 shot to a 100 shot, and seeing how long the 6g72 internals will last.
