My 2018 ram has 277k miles on it. Today on the way in to work the abs light and traction control lights and dealer service messages kept coming on and off. Sometimes every 4 seconds sometimes a few minutes between. Did this for 60 miles. Does not correlate with bumps in the road or turning.

I think I got a front wheel speed sensor and hub going out. What do y'all think?

I leave for a 14 hour drive tomorrow (funeral) and bought a new hub at lunch to switch out tonight, but don't know which one it is and my scanner won't read abs codes and it won't stay on anyway. I did replace the passenger hub a couple years ago and I'm shocked they lasted this long.

Guess I'll pull the sensor out and see if it shows signs of grounding out???

There is a recall on the abs module for some 17 and most 18 trucks. You should be able to go on ram or mopar's website and enter your VIN to see if your truck is affected.

Certain auto parts places have scanners that can read ABS codes for you. The Advance near me can’t, but the Autozone next door does.

Last time I checked they do not have a "fix" for it yet.

My cousin had a 2017 Mega Cab and went through the ABS module crap. I don't remember if he replaced it and had the dealer program it or if he shitcanned ot all together and found some kind of bypass, ABS delete kit.

Either way, I'd probably start with ABS sensors. Definitely cheaper. I can borrow a scanner that will read ABS signals if you need to.

Well thanks all. Made it to Fl and it only dinged three times. I'm traveling with a spare hub and a separate wheel speed sensor. But the alarm won't stay on so I can't read the code yet.

I did have the abs thing replaced right after I bought it off the lot like three times under warranty. Supposedly the third time fixed it with the newer version. Who knows maybe it's fritz out again... Hopefully I make it back home without issue.

Update with fix

The fault and "ding" became incessant last week and stayed in long enough to scan the code with my ezlynk. Abs pump motor fault.

Cant get just the motor as anywhere so I ordered the complete HCU from the dealer. About $300. Pulled the motor off of that one and swapped it in the truck. No bleeding of brakes.

A little tricky since the motor has a cam on the shaft that pumps two pistons in a small bore. I'm not much for YouTube but this FarmMD dude did a nice job with a how to

Bonus is @CLRracer was correct and my truck had a recall on this part. Don't want the dealer working on my truck so I just replaced it myself but will put in for reimbursement.

Mine has been like this for about 60k miles…I just listen to loud music and maybe one day I’ll replace the abs module

For what it's worth, this only took a couple hours to do, and its nice to have cruise control back

I had the same symptoms on my old Ram and it was indeed a faulty ABS sensor on the driver's side. Like you, my scanner didn't read anything, so I changed the suspect hub and no more worries afterwards. If you're in a hurry, I'd try this before departure.
