So lets say I get a compressor from the junkyard.
How do I check to see that it will work?
I had heard if you turn the pulley and you feel any suction on the holes that it will work but I am not sure of this.
Anyone?

If the center part of pulley can be turned by hand easily and if you can feel some suction chances are the compressor will work to some degree.

Zo, you've got to check that the clutch itself works. take some wire and hit the the compressor leads with 12v from your battery or charger or whatever. if the front plate sucks back in, youre good there, youll know what i mean instantly. for true AC work, you could have a small leak that you will not be able to detect by the 'suction feel' technique- but for compressed air duty, it should be fine. all of my compressors are from junkyards. what are your plans? I have a few sandens, parallel and inline mounting bolt styles I think, they might or might not in hville though. holla.

also you would have to check for leaks in the compressor by holding a vaccum on it. but that would take a recharge unit. mostly likley it doesnt have leaks but i have replaced some that do.

Also are you using it fro onboard air or actual A/C

nah no onboard AC just trying to get our AC's working right.
My GF's car AC takes a shit during the day and sometimes it works and sometimes it don't.
My Truck is starting to do the same thing. But hers does it more than my truck plus I only drive my truck well... for wheelin really.
And now my car is starting to F up too.

At least I got two used ones for the truck and the car but not my girl's honda though.
Hey Chuck you down one day for helpin me out?
