00 tj 4.0 5spd sometimes it works sometimes it doesnt got any ideas? its heat and ac i need ideas guys its gotta be done before it gets cold PLEASE HELP

i'd say, you drive a jeep, dont be a pansy and cry when it gets cold and u have no heat, most of us yj'ers deal with it every winter :)

blows nothing, not any setting, i wouldnt really mind being cold but my girlfriend on the other hand HATES the cold so i would like some heat so i can stay in a happy relationship

1. check fuse

Sounds like the selector switch is flaking out on you?
Did 00s still have the rotary ones? Or had the switched? I know the older style likes to get real hot and then stop working.
Try and take the switch panel off and clean the connections/make sure they are all snug. Or the switches could just be bad and you need a new one?

1st check fuse, then if you have power, i would see if you are getting power to the blower motor, make sure to check it with the fan switch turned on, then if you have power there, then it may be the fan, if no power there then check the switch.

Agree fuse first.
Then selector switch.
Selector switch is a LOT easier to get the voltmeter to than the fan is ;)
I like to troubleshoot in easiest to replace/get to order.
But since he said "sometimes works" fuses don't usually sometimes work.

switches "sometimes" work. Loose connections somewhere along the line "sometimes" work. But it's a jeep. So let's blame it on the Dana 35 :)

Agreed, If you really want to go without heat buy a CJ. Then you also get to deal with not having anything that even RESEMBLES a defroster. So at that point you just run without doors so the windsheild dosent fog up and you can completely kiss heat goodbye. Just out of curiosity does anyone have any suggestions for a remedy to this? (other than buy something else) Anyone tried putting a different blower/heater core in them or am I grasping at straws here?

p.s. Ditch the high-maintenance gf while you can.

FAR FAR FAR from high-maintenance, didnt get to do any testing today but hopefully soon i can. im gonna check connections first cause i turned it on today and worked fine.

FAR FAR FAR from high-maintenance

Good deal. It has been my experience that my jeep treats me much better than any high-maintenace girl ever did. The jeeps seem to put up with more of my crap also ha ha ha

Thanks Dave. I knew someone had figured it out. No need to experiment when you can learn tricks from the old dogs.

Did you find the problem? My 2000 TJ 4.0 liter now has a problem with the heater. The blower blows, but sometimes it will blow hot air and sometimes it does not blow hot air, but cold instead. Has anyone else had that problem? It was a real bummer driving to work at 4:30 this morning.

I have hot air now! Was low on coolant...real low. While I was at it, I checked the vacuum lines that go to the AC/heat selector switch and they seemed to be ok, so I think the issue was low coolant.
