I've been looking for a way to improve the safety of my CJ7. I’ve looked at the D and C Extreme front and rear add-on cage kits as a leading contender . I can weld well.... Looking for a complete option to add onto my factory cage that covers the front and rear seating areas.

Opinions on the D and C kits? Any other options I need to consider?

Thanks.

Those are pretty bare minimum. I’d go a different route, or at least add in additional bars above the seats. You aren’t going to like that front hoop and how they fabricate it. It needs to really follow the body lines and windshield angle better. Otherwise you are going to hit your knee on it a lot. It’s not the prettiest design.

I used to make CJ kits like those and that is very similar to one I used to make. I wasn’t a huge fan of the design. I thought having a hoop in the front wasn’t as ideal as having the a pillar bar come up and tie to the factory cage, so you had a single tube from the floor at the A pillar to above the driver and to the tie in at the factory roll bar.

I just installed the Poison Spyder full "laser fit" roll cage. After pulling the original bar I'm glad I didn't tie into it. Mine was the early fendertop design and the welds looked terrible. The PS cage is really nice and went together like legos.

I'm not a huge fan of the A pillars in the footwell, makes entry a little interesting but I chose full tube to the floor vs. the plate style tied into the dash which seems weak in a violent roll.

Right or wrong I figured it would be more economical and safer to do a full cage.
