many things could cause it, your going to need to get it scanned, it might me simple enough that they can just clear the code and it will go away or it might need some work.
i think autozone will check and clear it for free, if not take it to a real shop and have them check, it should be free if they think they are going to do the work
just don't let any of those idiots at autozone tell you how to fix it, god those people are stupid
When you turn the switch on it is probably blinking and then stays on steady, right? Turn the switch off, then on and count the blinks. There will be a two digit blink code ( at least it's two digits on a Ford ) like :
blink (pause) blink...blink...blink... indicating code 13. Thats called a flash code and can be referenced to the problem with the SRS.
Oh, and air bag indicator lights will not clear until you fix the problem.........
Yea, odds are there is something that is out of spec as fare as resistance goes. (That's how the computer tells if something is wrong.) BMW's are bad about belt buckle tensoiners. Honestly you can just clear it if it is not currently present and everything will still work in an accident. I had to do this a couple of times on my BMW for the belt tensioners. It had to do with when you were buckling the seat belt and if you did it at the wrong time, (while the computer was still checking the system) the light would come on. Not sure if auto zones code reader will read airbag codes. Probably not but worth a shot. And anyone else will charge you to read the codes. Probably an hours labor. But If I were you, I'd ask them to clear it once they read it and see if it comes back. Good luck!
