My mother in law dropped off the family farm F150 for an alignment (2003 model). I think she just got taken advantage of. The guy told her "all four were very bad".

How the #*&^*& do you align a leaf sprung axle? The front is IFS.

So. Before I react...

What are yalls thoughts? Am I missing something?

no. im serious. she was charged this, and paid this not knowing an expensive dealership fee is $145 range. its a flat fee.

if it was "just so bad and took so much time" - has anyone even heard of justified "hourly" charge for alignment?

you should call them for an itemized list of parts replaced & specifically what was adjusted. Then come back to this thread and complain about why they mark up parts 300% and labor $ is stupid

Id like to see an itemized bill on this, I'd hope they replaced some parts.

Where i work we charge 79.95 + tax for a 2 wheel alignment such as this truck, and 89.95 + tax for a 4 wheel alignment on a car or SUV with rear adjustment. This charge is only if we can adjust it using factory slots or cams for example. Some older 88 to 99 chevy trucks you have to remove the upper a arms and knock out a plug so you can adjust it. Older ttb fords you change out bushings at the upper ball joint to adjust. We tell people theres an additional charge for the bushings or the labor up front however.

If we run into one thats rusty like the Titanic we'll call the customer before touching anything to tell them there may be additional labor for all the hammering and torching we may have to do.

Definitely a case of someone being taken advantage of. Was she given a quote up front? Did she receive notice of what it was going to cost?

When I worked at the dealership, we were required to quote the job, and then call/contact them with anything above 10% above the quote. I think there is a NC law about it. Maybe I'm wrong.

If she told them just to do whatever, nothing can be done.

Unless they replaced some serious parts in the front end, I would say you would be totally justified going down there and throat punching the service advisor/tech

looks like they replaced ball joints and did the alignment.

Then you got a smoking deal.

Our Dodge was just up at the dealership so they could check it out and see how fucking awesome it is. They noticed the PS return line from the box to the pump is a little dirty. They couldn't get it to shine the way it really ought to, so they asked if we wanted to pay $349.13 to replace it.

That's $349.13 for a piece of low pressure rubber line that's about 18" long and has a spring clip on each end. If you've got some line clamp pliers or a friend with two thumbs, you can change it out in about 4 minutes and not even spill much fluid.

@shawn

I hear you on that. If they did it then yes sounds like what i would expect to pay. Still waiting on invoice.
