Am I crazy, or a normal gearhead?

yes you're nuts. not every good vehicle is on the interwebz. whats so great about this suburban over others?

Its a Chevy, so thats normal... if it were a ford might be time to see a psychiatrist. Lol.

Drove 6 hours for my first XJ, it cost me $700 dollars, I had it under 3 months before parting it out and doubling my money. when you find something you want, you get it. Seems like a good way to live to me.

you can take me on a drive through the country and i will fall in love with at least 2 piles of junk in someones yard. thats why i don't joy ride with a trailer!

Get it and like it. or like wrenchin on it.

I had a friend who flew me and him from Greensboro to Austin, TX to get a GMC Yukon Denali. We then drove 22 hours straight home. Now that's crazy.

He never told me how much he paid for it but he must have got it for a steal to do all that. It didn't seem to be all that to me but to each their own.

I've also searched every forum and local car lot at least twice. I am super picky with my cars. This one is the only one I found that is solid indigo blue, grey leather interior with 3rd row seats, and the Vortec 350.

I'm going to buy it, trying to get my bro to road trip with me. :driver:

I have done the same thing a lot of times.I have even bought the car that they Listed as "Bring a Trailer" and then Babied, limped or repaired every two hours to get it home. The Road trip is at least 50% of the purchase.I love that aspect of it,the adventure part!!

Were drivin 6 hours Sat to buy a camper so I can't judge either way.Gubni flew to New jersey or somewhere like that to buy a CC PSD one time.I think that for most in the gearhead world distance is not much of a deterant.

4-5 years ago I bought a 79 K-30 w a 454 that the owner said hadnt been off the farm in at least 10 years, its 2.5 hours home and other than 4 quarts of ps fluid it was pretty uneventful. The dude I got it off of couldnt believe I was gonna drive it home,he said he was afraid to drive it to the store and back. That was back before I had a towrig and trailer. The trip is definately the majority of the purchase.

Was pretty close to buying a BMW M3 from Cali this summer and road tripping it back.

Thing was a mint '97 E36, super low miles, something like 70k and only 9grand.

OK, so the plan is on. Next Wednesday my bro and I are going to rent a car and head out at like 4am. We're going to drive to the place in Kentucky and buy the truck and then drive the truck and rental car back through Knoxville, TN where we'll drop off the rental and then roll back home together big pimpin in my new Burb. :)

Well, scratch that. Finally got a hold of the salesman at the dealership. He wouldn't go less than $4800 and he said the engine went and they stuck a junkyard engine in there. They'll be sitting on that stuck for a long time at that price. Back to the drawing board.

8 hours..pshhh. :flipoff2:

I did 30-someodd hours driving straight through once to pick up some axles. Only 2 45 min naps. From Clt to Conneticuit and back. This was right after the big snow in the DC area this time last year. Oh, and hauled a pair of FZJ80(heavy!) axles in the truck/backseat of my Civic. I think that qualifies as a little crazy.

I drove with my son Josh to Pennsylvania to pick up a Chevy truck. Has the 8.1 and the Allison. Probably wouldn't have drove so far had I not know what an anal, picky,A$$hole the guy who owned it was. So far, great truck, no issues.

Ive only bought one truck in-state, and that was my first truck, a 90 Dodge Ram. I knew all the previous owners very well. My RamCharger came from Charlottesville VA for 700, I went to DC to get two RCs for free, went to Jersey to get a lifted and locked RC for a grand, my Dads RC and the doner truck for his tons both came from Richmond, and my tow rig, and 85 Dodge Crew Cab, came from Spartanburg SC, along with a parts CC and a 76 Dodge m-1008.
