Im looking to get a 4 barrel carb for my wagoneer and im debating between the stock intake off earlier AMC's or an aluminum one, its hard to beat the price of a stock intake but i dont want to waste money if its junk,

I got an aluminm Edelbrock performer intake and couldn't be happier. I've been running it for years now. If you know the weight of a stock intake vs. the aluminum that should sell it.

IMHO it depends on what else your are doing to the motor.
These motors arent hp or tq monsters in stock form. If you are changing nothing an aluminum intake is prolly good for 5hp or so....if you plan on any opther improvements (cam, heads, etc) it will be necessary to realize the full potential.
