Looks great! I tried to find a reasonable priced 401 when I did my rebuild but couldn't. Went with a 360...and did not follow the engine code color either. Wanted to match my Jeep. NO regrets :driver:

Gotta love a 401... I hope one day i can come accross one to build.

By the way, to the AMC engine builders... There is a marine engine out there called a crusader, their blue is about as close to AMC blue as you can get, if not the exact same.... and its cheap!!!!!
 
I am an AMC 401 fan! :beer:

I found the stock AMC blue at The Eastwood Company. Its a little more expensive (supply and demand) but to each there own.

Is it a stock rebuild or did you add any performance parts, like a hot cam?

It is bored .30 over, 9.5-1, pistons, moly rings

crank was turned, mains .20, rods .10

heads were shaved just a smidge, ported, not polished

high performance timing set, high flow water pump, high flow oil pump

RV torque cam 280 grind

edelbrock torker intake, edelbrock thunder series 4BL offroad carb

everything else is stock,

good thing about AMC 390's and 401's, everything is forged
 
I keep looking at it as I ride by, if you keep leaving it in your carport, you may come home to find it has migrated into my Commando.:flipoff2:
Let me know when you are going to drop it in and I will give you a hand. I have been slammed this week at work, looks like you did well though.

Sounds like some good mild performance upgrades. Nice low end torque. Let us know how you like it. Never too early to start planning for my next 401.
