So today I decided to replace my Bad wiper Switch on my 1984 J10 Truck And I found out something really cool. AMC used a ford Wiper Switch and the intermittent wiper switch and control module Plugs right into my factory harness and I now have intermittent wiper. It cost me about $10 for the parts from the self service wrecking yard. I used the wiper switch from a 1986 ford f150. I think that this will work on many older AMC Jeeps, so I though I would Share.

I took a video of my mod here it is below

THANKS, Ridgerunner! I'll have to check into that. On my 79 CJ, I have a intermittent control, from JC Whitney. Had wiring instructions, for Ford, Chr, & Chevy. best I remember, I have 3 wires, going to the motor. That is where it's to be spliced in. Installing it, years ago, I tried all 3 wiring options, & 3 wires. The control works, with the exception of the "park" function. Whenever the circuit is broken [delayed], that's where the blades stop!

Good tip, Carl!

Give that switch a good looking over... a lot of the older light switches had a stem release (button or tab) which would allow pulling the stem out for replacement, or whatever.

That is on the headlight switch . Not on the wiper

Duh.. that looks bad. I was thinking maybe the wiper switch might be the same as a light switch, but clearly didn't say it too well. :shaking:

A.M.C. Another Manufacture's Components. It's a great idea since they aren't in business anymore, you just go get whichever component you need off the correct make of vehicle!

Just a little FYI about that intermittent module, since its a common thing on older fords. If your wipers start randomly wiping when switch is off, or if you loose low speed but high works, since the intermittent is on the low speed wire. The solder joints on the circuit board inside the box will crack over the years. All you have to do is touch a solder iron to them to get the solder to heat up and reflow and it will work like it should. Also ford switched two wires on the switch in 1980 I think, so if you get a switch or module from a pre 80 ford you may have to swap the two wires on the switch connector. I'm pretty sure you can find that wire switching info on fullsizebronco.com if you get a switch that doesnt work right.

This conversion works on Amc eagle as well just did it today add ground to headlight switch ground and you are good to go.
Since you came here to post that, it seems; why not add some pics of said Eagle?
