Tonya is looking at possibly buying a container of stuff from China. We assume it would be coming into the port in CA and we would need transportation from there??? Has anybody here ever imported a container from china and have some insight on the logistics of it??

The company I work for brings stuff in through a 3'rd party logistics company. Most of our stuff ships to the east coast - either into NY or Charleston. We have some customers on the west coast and for those customers we'll ship into LA or one of the other ports in CA. We tell the logistics company where to pick up the stuff and provide them with the final destination. They take care of getting it there.

600 units it would probably take more than one trip.I guess it would depend on how big my canoe holder thing was.

It’s not the size of the unit, it’s how you use it!

That’s what she said!

an ideal on cost?? Driving to Charleston would be ideal just don't think it could be got in one load and I don't how long I would have to get the rest.I could have it all within a weeks time just don't know if that would be allowed.

My wife did for a while. Its been...gosh a decade.
We imported a total of 4 containers in 2 shipments. Both came in to Charleston.
Chinese imports are worse than dealing with the mob in Chicago. You need a 3rd party logistics/liason with boots on the ground in China. Otherwise you container will sit and miss ship after ship.

I use these guys to broker anything I do overseas:

About Us

Not sure what you're getting or how time sensitive it is, but might want to check out if you'll be subject to any tariffs. I have about 2700 pages on the matter if you wanna check:

You’re looking at full containers, right? I can get some ballpark estimates tomorrow morning.

Good point from @UTfball68 - some tariffs that were supposed to go into effect this month got pushed out into March.

I don’t pretend to be a logistics person but I’ll try to help where I can.

Side note...if this is what you do...next time I need it, I’d be down for a quote...I’ve stuck with my guys primarily because they’ve been trouble free and respond immediately and it hasn’t been worth the hassle of not getting that service to price shop the last couple years. I generally do a couple things a quarter.

We get containers from Europe occasionally. We go through a broker. It's too much work trying to figure all that import crap out yourself for a container every once in a while. I'd call UTfootball's guy.
