I got an above the range microwave today. My I had an outlet in the cabinet right above the new microwave, so no prob there. The old stove hood wires and the outlet in the cabinet are on the same circuit. Am I OK to tape off the old hood wires and stuff them back in the wall?

Also I am in need of a 120V 20Amp Outlet in my garage to run my Air Compressor. Anyone interested???

I'm in the southern end of Winston Salem.

if i were you instead of stuffing them back into the wall the make plastic boxes with ears on them. cut out the hole for the box put the wires in the box wire nut them and tape them, put box in wall secure with the ears and put a blank cover of your choice on the box.

I'm an electrician & I agree w/ containing the old wires w/n a box w/ cover for safety & future use.

An old co-worker volunteered to help me out. He said the outlet shouldn't take more than an hour. Thanks everyone for your replies.
