I bought the property around me at a county tax sale back in March.Ive worked on it off and on all summer cleaning up all the left behind trash/tires and scrap.Some of what was left behind was some old equipment.Its a Cat DW20 M tractor and a 12 yard Garwood scraper.The operating cond of the Cat is unknown since the pony motor is stuck.The scraper part looks to be complete but it is cable operated.Is there any value in this stuff beside the $5.50/#100 the crusher will pay?? I know they are using scrapers behind tracked tractors out west but the cost to make it hydraulic might not be worth the trouble.Looking to possibly sell it all as Im not set up to handle such heavy scrap.

Probably about as much as it would cost to get it to the scrapyard. That will need a lot of wrecker and a low boy, and neither of those are cheap!

Maybe but youre gonna be penalized for the tires on it.Ive been told maybe as much as a #1000 per tire.Heavy steel is bringing $5.50/100 around here.

it rolls so in theory just a landoll with a winch.

Definitely be a problem with the tires! As for the rest, they really don't want Steal they have to have a labor guy burn torches on! They would eat your lunch on Cutting cost. The tractor should be of interest to someone for parts, or restoration. Some Equipment group.

Yeah they're paying $1 less per #100 for heavy steel for that very reason .
 
Funny, I ran into something similar a few years back—ended up with an old Cat loader and a scrap trailer from a neighbor who was cleaning out their land. The pony motor was stuck too, and I just sold the whole lot to a local crusher. Honestly, sometimes it’s just easier to move it as scrap than deal with fixing it. On a side note, having a decent ERP helped me keep track of what I had and what was worth anything—saved a lot of headaches.

Sold that stuff back in the summer.I got a little better than scrap price for them and didnt have to touch em.

Granted I dont know how motivated they were but there have been others that tried to get it running and walked away from it,The last one was probably8/10 years ago.

So you create an online challenge. Betting that if anyone can get it running. If they do, they can keep it. You get it hauled off for free, and make some side money taking bets on who and if anyone can get it running. 😂

NO THANKS!!! I get enuf of stupid people the way it is.Ive had folks tell me I should start videoing the stuff I buy and how/where I find it.Im not personable enuf for all that and I cant see how it wouldnt come back to bite me in the long run.Ive spent years making contacts and earning peoples trust and Im not putting that out there for the whole world to see.
