I can TIG and Stick Aluminum. I can MIG it but I don't like to.
Forgive my ignorance as I'm a boat lover, but please explain "skeg" to me as that term isn't familiar to me.

A skeg (or skag) is a sternward extension of the keel of boats and ships which have a rudder mounted on the centre line. The term also applies to the lowest point on an outboard motor or the outdrive of an inboard/outboard.

yeah I've welded something very similar on an outboard.
a friend hit a log in the river breaking off the part of the lower portion of the outdrive that aftermarket plastic stabilizers are bolted to. fortunately the stabilizer was 1 solid piece and starboard side saved the port side of the aluminum support.
I cleaned it up and welded it back together slowly as to not to damage anything on the inside of the outdrive
