buddy bought a '98 at the auction Saturday...

only "problem" is the Door Ajar light stays on, which also causes you to have to turn the interior light into "manual" mode...

there are no pins in the door, so I'm guessing it's magnetic, or something else?

anybody know where the actual sensors are?

Greg

Probably in the latch mechanism itself. Take off the door panel and hvae a look see. There will be wires going to it. (For the auto door locks too.) He will probably need a door latch assy. Ford probably has them in stock.

My 99 F250 has the same issue. I have been told to open the door, and there is an access plate on the end of the door where the latching mechanism is. They say that is where the sensor is. Hope this helps, or at least keeps you fromm having to take the whole panel off. (My fix was to take the cover off of the light and loosen the grounding screw with my fingers)

I had a simular problem with the door latch on my '98 Ranger. The dome light would not turn off when the door was shut and the door ajar idiot light stayed on. I cleaned the latch assembly and striker with silicone spray. Both lights went out when I shut the door. I hope this helps.
